Susanna Amirkhanyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia, and began piano lessons at the age of six before continuing her studies at the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan, where she developed a passion for chamber music. She then moved to Lübeck, Germany, and continued her studies from the 2004/2005 semester in the General Artistic Education program (AKA) at the Musikhochschule Lübeck under Prof. Konstanze Eickhorst, where she already earned recognition with performances as a soloist at Bechstein Centrum Hamburg.
After completing her studies as a concert pianist (diploma), Susanna Amirkhanyan continued her university education with a Master’s degree in Music Practice, specializing in Chamber Music under Prof. Heime Müller. She completed her studies in 2013 with the “Amira Trio”, which she founded, and earned her second Master of Music degree.
Throughout her time in Lübeck, she received several scholarships, including support from the Possehl Foundation and the Karin-Schütz-Stiftung, and was sponsored by the international YEHUDI MENUHIN Live Music Now Foundation as a chamber musician, collaborating with multiple ensembles.
Her artistry has been enriched by masterclasses with renowned pedagogues and artists such as Prof. Walter Levin, Prof. Ferenc Rados, Prof. Andzej Jasinski, Prof. Jan Gottlieb Jiracek von Arnim, Prof. Jonathan Aner, Prof. Klaus Becker, and Prof. Thomas Ludes. In addition to her work as a performer, she regularly appears as a soloist and piano partner with esteemed musicians and ensembles across Europe, with a notable presence in the Aachen region, where she participates in chamber concerts at the Aachen Theater.
Further concert activity in the Aachen metropolitan area includes serving as a musical co-director for the Grenzlandtheater Aachen production of My Fair Lady and contributing to the Stolberger Musiksommer. Since 2025, she has been part of the Stolberger Musiksommer team, contributing to the planning and execution of concerts.
Her current projects include concerts with flutist Jennifer Seubel (Duo Tibiano), the staging of a music theater piece with actress Bianka Elberfeld, and a four- and six-hand program featuring (partly contemporary) Armenian piano literature performed with Armenian pianists Julietta Vardanyan and Armen-Levon Manaseryan, as part of Julietta Vardanyan’s concert series “1 + 1 = 4”.
Her commitment to musical education is reflected in her active teaching and mentorship roles through masterclasses and outreach projects across Europe.
