Nareh Arghamanyan

Born in 1989

Austria

Music is how I express myself and show my feelings. Whenever I perform, I try to speak through the music. I believe the piano is a closed circuit of all human emotions and a palette of all our life experiences.

Nareh Arghamanyan was born in Armenia in 1989 and has been regarded as a child prodigy since the age of six. She began playing the piano at five and was admitted to the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory at eight. By 15, she became the youngest student ever accepted at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She later continued her studies with Avedis Kouyoumdjian and Arie Vardi in Hanover. Since 2015, Nareh Arghamanyan has been a Bösendorfer Artist.

Nareh Arghamanyan is not only one of the most technically outstanding pianists of her generation, but her playing also stands out for its rich tonal imagination and profound storytelling. Critics praise her ability to tell stories through her music, describing it with phrases like «uniquely sensual narrative tone,» «charismatic stage presence,» and «potential superstar,» among many other accolades.

The exceptional pianist has won numerous international awards, including, at the age of 18 in 2008, the first prize and all special prizes at the Montreal International Musical Competition, making her the youngest winner in its history.

She released her first solo album in 2009, followed by five more to date, all highly acclaimed by critics. Most recently, she recorded Sergei Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto, among other works.

Today, the virtuoso captivates audiences on the world’s great concert stages, such as the Vienna Musikverein, New York’s Lincoln Center, and Lucerne.

Nareh Arghamanyan has collaborated with some of the world’s most renowned conductors, including Sir Neville Marriner, Kent Nagano, and Alain Altinoglu.

She regularly performs at prestigious festivals and gives concerts in major cities across Europe, Asia, and North America.

With over 50 piano concertos in her repertoire, she has performed with orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, and many others.
