Hasmik Manukyan

Armenian pianist Hasmik Manukyan is a prize winner of the Arno Babajanyan and Emin Khachaturian National Piano Competitions (2002). She made her orchestral debut with the Armenian Radio Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of eight. Her principal teachers in Armenia included Suren Zakarian and Susanna Yeritsyan.

In 2010, after becoming a prize winner in the Heghine Ter-Ghevondyan Piano Accompanists Competition, Manukyan’s main artistic focus shifted towards collaborative piano. Following the completion of her Master’s studies at LUCA School of Arts, Campus Lemmens, in Leuven, Belgium, where she studied with Alan Weiss, she further developed her skills as a collaborative pianist at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels under Anne Op de Beeck and Inge Spinette. She received a postgraduate degree in piano accompaniment and subsequently obtained a postgraduate degree in chamber music.

Manukyan is in high demand as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborator. She has performed extensively across Armenia, Russia, Europe, the United States, and Canada, appearing at renowned venues including the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in Yerevan, Henry Le Boeuf Hall at BOZAR in Brussels, AMUZ Concert Hall in Antwerp, Besední dům in Brno, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, and Kerry Town Concert Hall in Ann Arbor, Michigan, among others.

As a collaborative pianist, Manukyan has participated in numerous masterclasses with renowned musicians, including Guy Braunstein (violin), Chaim Taub (violin), Dmitry Sitkovetsky (violin), Elisabetta Andreani (soprano), Valerie Guillorit (soprano), and Ubaldo Fabbri (vocal coach), among others.

Hasmik Manukyan performs regularly as a chamber musician at prestigious festivals and concert series, including Festival van Vlaanderen, Middagconcerten van Antwerpen, BOZAR: Next Generation in Brussels, Festival Midis Minimes in Brussels, the Pulcheria Concert Series at KU Leuven, Festival Zomer van Sint-Pieter in Leuven, Scène Ouvertes in Paris, and Ciclo de Conciertos de Verano in Gijón, Spain, among others.

In 2008, together with violinist Hrayr Karapetyan, she founded the duo Art of Duo. The duo has performed more than 300 concerts worldwide and has won prizes in national and international competitions. Their first CD was released in 2014, followed in 2021 by their second and third recordings, Old and New Armenia and Art of Duo: Belgium. These CDs feature selected works for violin and piano by renowned classical and contemporary Armenian and Belgian composers.
