Anahit Nersesyan is a famous Armenian pianist who was born in 1954 in Yerevan.
She studied at the Tchaikovsky Specialized Music School, Yerevan from 1961-72 with Professor Eleonora Voskanyan. Continued education at the Moscow State Conservatory, the class of Professor Victor Merzhanov, from 1972 — 77. Got a post-graduate education in piano.
Since 1977 has been teaching at the piano department of the Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory. Participated in international competitions and festivals: VI International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition (1980, First Prize and Golden Medal, Germany), J.S. Bach 300th Anniversary Festival (1984, Germany). Had master classes at Karol Lipiński University of Music in Wrocław (1985, Poland), and Tokyo College of Music (1994–95, Japan). Was a member of international juries: J.S. Bach International Competition in Saarbrücken (1992, Germany), and Rachmaninoff International Competition (1994, 1995, 2004, 2008, Russia).
Had numerous recitals in Germany, France, Canada, Finland, Hungary, Austria, Japan, Baltic countries, the USA, and Poland. Performed with conductors Khanjian, Tjeknavorian, Manino (Italy), van Tristen (Netherlands), Martin Koch, and Emin Khachaturian. She many times appeared with the Komitas Quartet.
Honored Artist of Armenia in 2007, she currently is a professor at the Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory.
Her albums were popular in the USSR, Germany, and Japan, where she toured numerous times. She had releases at the Melodiya and Altus.
Anahit Nersesyan is a pianist of remarkable artistry and dedication, whose contributions to the world of classical music have earned her widespread recognition and admiration. As an Honored Artist of Armenia (2007), she has been a cultural ambassador, sharing her deep musical insight across the globe. Her role as a jury member in esteemed competitions, including the Balakirev International Competition (2014), the Minsk International Competition (2014), and numerous others highlights her influence in shaping the next generation of musicians.
Her performances at renowned festivals, such as the International Conservatory Week Festival in St. Petersburg (2014) and the Tatiana Shebanova Memorial Festival (2015), demonstrate her unwavering commitment to celebrating and preserving the legacy of classical music. She has also been part of historically significant musical events, including solo concerts dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide (Germany, 2015) and a concert marking the 175th anniversary of P. Tchaikovsky’s birth (Armenia, 2015).
Beyond the concert stage, Anahit Nersesyan has shared her expertise through masterclasses at prestigious institutions such as the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, Sanok (Poland), and Krasnodar (2015). Her dedication to music education was further recognized when she was invited as a Special Guest Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts Geidai (2018). In acknowledgment of her invaluable contributions to cultural exchange, she received the Honorary Award from the Armenian Embassy of Japan (2018).
