Arus Adjemian is an Armenian pianist living in Germany, internationally acclaimed for her absolute virtuosity, poetic expressiveness, and emotionally charged performances that blend Armenian depth with European refinement.
Born in Yerevan, Armenia, into a family of musicians, Adjemian began playing piano at the age of five. She was quickly admitted to the prestigious Tchaikovsky Special Music School, where she studied with the legendary Armenian teacher Rozaliya Tandilyan. Her public debut came at age twelve, when she performed Camille Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 with orchestra—an early indication of her formidable talent.
She continued her formal education at the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan, followed by a postgraduate program at the Yerevan State Conservatory, where she deepened her artistry and academic grounding.
In 1999, Adjemian won First Prize at the Chopin Symposium, awarded by a distinguished jury that included Daniel Pollack, Nikolai Petrov, and Halina Czerny-Stefańska. This marked the beginning of her international recognition.
Her concerto repertoire now includes nearly 40 works, and she has performed across Europe, North and South America, and Asia. In 2025, she added Gershwin’s Concerto in F, Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2, and Anton Rubinstein’s Piano Concerto No. 4 to her repertoire. That same year, she appeared with the Aachen Symphony Orchestra—formerly under Herbert von Karajan—delivering a performance of Liszt’s Second Piano Concerto that critics called “breathtaking” (Aachener Zeitung).
Adjemian’s longtime artistic collaboration with Constantine Orbelian has included extensive tours of South America, performing concertos by Bach, Haydn, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Shostakovich. She has also shared the stage with acclaimed artists including Menahem Pressler, Daniel Pollack, and Vladimir Spivakov.
Her international festival appearances include the Ashkenazy Festival in Oxford and the Nights of Modena Festival. A standout moment was her glorious performance of Ravel’s La Valse at the Kremlin, celebrated for its orchestral scope and commanding elegance. She later recorded a recital at the Great Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, which became her acclaimed 2004 album—a highlight in her discography.
In 2023, Adjemian signed with Eden River Records and returned to the studio to record her first new album in years, featuring works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Liszt, and Bach. The recording, produced in Dolby Atmos, will be released in streaming, CD, vinyl, and cassette formats—blending classical excellence with modern sound innovation.
Embracing digital platforms, Adjemian joined Instagram in 2024, where she rapidly gained over 35,000 followers. Her videos and recordings have since accumulated more than 12 million streams, connecting her artistry to a new global generation.
For her enduring contributions to music and culture, Arus Adjemian has been honored with the title of Honoured Artist of Armenia and awarded the President’s Award of Armenia.
